Proudly presented by Film Victoria and Screen Australia, The FACTory is AIDC’s one-day international pitching forum for factual screen content, happening on Tuesday 7 March during AIDC 2017 in Federation Square’s striking Deakin Edge auditorium.
Successful projects pitched at The FACTory in 2016 included the highly anticipated Michael Hutchence documentary Mystify.
“Pitching our latest documentary, Mystify, at AIDC's FACTory last year, connected us with financiers and commissioning editors, namely Kate Townsend of BBC Storyville, who in turn introduced us to renowned UK producer, John Battsek (Searching for Sugar Man, Listen to Me Marlon, One Day in September). Our pitch was also heard by Head of ABC Arts, Mandy Chang, and Paul Wiegard of Madman Entertainment, who both came on board the project soon after AIDC. We are currently contracting with all parties, with production due to commence before the end of this year. We are grateful that the AIDC is such a tremendous hub of connectivity for Australia's documentary industry.”
- Maya Gnyp and Richard Lowenstein of Ghost Pictures.
We are now seeking submissions for The FACTory, with consideration given to any nonfiction screen project seeking funding or support, including documentary shorts, one-off feature documentaries, documentary series and specialist factual programs.
If you would like to observe the pitches taking place you can do so with an All Access Pass, a Sessions Only Pass or a Tuesday (Day 3) Pass.

"My career really took off at AIDC! Nine years ago, as an emerging producer, I was selected to be part of one of their pitching competitions and it gave me an instant understanding of the broader industry and marketplace. It is a key event for any documentary filmmaker."
