MASTERS: DISTRIBUTION WITH JESS FUSELIER

Business Digital technologies have changed the way we consume films, but there are many exciting new opportunities for distribution.

Digital technologies have profoundly impacted the way content is created, released, and consumed – leading to new challenges and opportunities for independent creators. While fewer traditional distribution deals are being offered due to viewership trends slipping further into the digital space, new technologies are providing more access to information that gives artists the ability to think outside the box when it comes to releasing and finding an audience for their work. So how do you negotiate the shifting sands of distribution and leverage data transparency tools such as AI powered analytics platforms to work to your advantage?

Jess Fuselier manages education and research for Sundance Institute’s Creative Distribution Initiative, which empowers filmmakers to make smart, informed decisions when navigating the changing business of independent film. She is passionate about finding entrepreneurial ways for independent creators to build and reach audiences. If you’re thinking about pursuing creative distribution, this session will give you the tools to help you take more control of the release of your work, and it will give practical examples of how technology can be used to better both the creative and commercial aspects of storytelling.
