Documented Screening Program: Another Body + Pre-Recorded Q&A

Screening SXSW Special Jury Award Winner Another Body follows American college student Taylor’s search for answers and justice after she discovers deepfake pornography of herself circulating online.

The nightmarish ethics surrounding deepfake technology are unpacked after a female college student discovers AI-generated pornography of herself online.

After a tip-off from her friend, Taylor (not her real name) discovers a pocket of deepfake porn online using her face, real name and personal details. Launching into investigation mode, she embarks on a mission to seek justice and find the culprit knowing that he is probably dangerously within her orbit.

Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn’s unnerving documentary sheds a startling light on the ethical Pandora’s box that is deepfake technology and demands that the conversation starts now. Part thriller and part whodunnit, Another Body features brave appearances from those affected, cloaked in various levels of anonymity.

Another Body premiered at the 2023 South by Southwest Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Award.

This Australian premiere screening will feature a pre-recorded Q&A with co-director Reuben Hamlyn led by MIFF Program Manager Mia Falstein-Rush.

Ticketing information: Tickets are $12 for AIDC delegates and are available to purchase via the ACMI website or in-person at the ACMI ticket desk.

Co-Director Sophie Compton will join (via Zoom) the AIDC session Brave New World: Documentary and Artificial Intelligence.
