CALL FOR AIDC BOARD EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT OF AIDC
The Board & Executive team for the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) are now seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) to fill three periodic Board Director vacancies.
Established in 1987, the Australian International Documentary Conference is a world-class, agenda-setting event bringing together representatives from across the globe to showcase new ideas and trends and drive inspiration, collaboration and production. It features a globally renowned marketplace for documentary and factual content, a curated program focusing on craft, business and innovation, industry development and awards programs, and networking opportunities to facilitate new connections.
AIDC is seeking Expressions of Interest for three Board Director positions. These appointments are an opportunity to contribute strategic leadership to an organisation that plays a vital role in the Australian and international documentary ecosystem.
The Board is looking to strengthen its governance with individuals who can bring diverse professional perspectives, networks and expertise to support AIDC’s next phase of growth.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
New Board members should collectively bring a combination of the following expertise:
- Public Policy and Government Engagement
Experience working with, or exposure to, State or Federal politics, including an understanding of government processes, policy development and stakeholder engagement. - Fundraising and Philanthropy
Experience in securing philanthropic support and major gifts, government funding and grants, partnerships and developing long-term funding relationships. - Commercial and Financial Acumen
Senior business, finance or investment experience, with the ability to contribute to strategic planning, financial oversight and sustainable organisational growth. - Governance Experience
Prior board experience in the arts, cultural, not-for-profit or corporate sectors will be highly regarded. - Next-Generation Leadership
The Board is particularly interested in appointing one member aged between 26–35, bringing contemporary industry perspectives, emerging leadership and new networks. - Events, Marketing or Publicity Expertise
Experience in event management, audience development, publicity, marketing or communications, particularly within cultural, media or screen sectors.
Roles and Responsibilities
Board Directors contribute to strategic oversight, governance and advocacy for AIDC. They work with the AIDC Executive Team to:
- oversee the governance framework to ensure the organisation meets its obligations
- set the strategic direction of the organisation
- oversee financial performance of the organisation
- oversee the risk management strategy
- leverage professional networks for fundraising and other forms of in-kind support
- play an active role in building a culture of integrity by modelling the behaviours based on the public sector values and standards
- operate within its statutory powers and policies
- oversee the occupational health and safety of the organisation
- manage stakeholders
COMMITMENT
We are seeking committed board members who can:
- attend virtual board meetings approximately every six weeks
- attend and participate in AIDC Strategic Plannings days for 1-2 days each year (ideally in person)
- attend and actively participate in the annual four-day conference
- participate in one or more sub-committees aligned with your field of expertise and/or area of interest
