His media career started in 2017, after appearing in the ABC ME television show My Year 12 Life, a self-filmed series which covered 14 different students going through their final year of high school. Tom went on to have his own ABC iview series The Kununurra Kid, where he explored Australia and found the lost parts of his Indigenous family, finishing off the series in LA.

The formal style of filmmaking is great, but when he is not in the office, he wears short shorts, and no shirt and runs around outback Australia with his grandfather. They are known as ‘Outback Tom & Grandad’.

Tom and his grandad run a TikTok called “Outbacktom” which showcases life out bush, different meals, outback living, cooking, tips and tricks, and now has an audience of over 250K people on TikTok, and another 150K on Instagram.
