His debut feature THIS IS GOING TO BE BIG premiered at MIFF 2023 winning Audience and Jury Awards before screening internationally at festivals including BFI London, True/False, Tallinn Black Nights and HotDocs. The film was nominated for two AACTA Awards, winning Best Feature Film at AIDC 2024 with Thomas being nominated for Best Direction in a Debut Feature by the Directors Guild.

An Irish-Australian filmmaker with strong ties to Tasmania, Thomas was a finalist for the AACTA 2026 Reg Grundy Award and is currently writing a feature film supported by VicScreen and Screen Australia. He has developed and produced scripted and non-fiction projects for Netflix, ABC, SBS, The Guardian, MONA, Fremantle Media and Matchbox Pictures. For commercial work, he is represented by Truce Films, having previously worked as a staff Director and Editor for AFL Studios and Vice Australia.
