Sarah Martin is an award-winning journalist and senior correspondent with Guardian Australia’s national investigations team.

She has worked as a print journalist across several mastheads in Australia for more than 15 years, specialising in business and politics.

She began her career as a cadet for regional newspapers in Western Australia, before writing for The Advertiser and The Australian based in Adelaide. In 2014 she moved to the parliamentary press gallery in Canberra to report on federal politics. She was formerly political editor of The West Australian and The Guardian’s chief political correspondent. In 2023, Martin joined The Guardian’s national investigations team.

In 2025, Martin and senior producer Joe Koning reported and produced the podcast Gina for The Guardian, a seven-part narrative podcast about Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart. Gina was nominated for a Walkley award and named one of Apple’s top 10 podcasts of the year.
