Company bio
Doc Society is a global non-profit working alongside bold and inspiring filmmakers worldwide. We back storytelling by artists, journalists, and filmmakers who have creative and editorial control. We champion the makers of independent media—the tenacious, the curious, and the bold—making work because they must and engaging audiences by any means necessary. We are fundamentally committed to defending every citizen’s right to access media that serves the public interest and to building a healthy global ecosystem that makes this possible. We specialise in production and impact distribution of non-fiction storytelling. Since 2005, we’ve funded over 600 projects and distributed $22 million across more than 40 countries. Beyond grant-making and creative support, we help artists and journalists develop effective impact strategies and build connections with communities and allies throughout civil society, extending well beyond the media industry.
