Gil is an Emmy-nominated documentary director, producer and show-runner.

Founder of boutique production company Den of Martians, Gil is a proud member of the TV Academy, the DGA, PGA, ADG and AACTA.

With an active development slate spanning crime, politics, sport and music, Den of Martians is a premium non-fiction documentary company focused on character driven stories that are authentic, confronting and reflect the world as it is and the worlds we can imagine in the future.

After establishing his production company Den of Martians in an exclusive overall deal with Dreamchaser Entertainment & Fifth Season, in 2025 Gil created and directed Death Cap: The Mushroom Murders – an international co-production in collaboration with Fifth Season that explored the explosive crimes and trial of Erin Patterson, who poisoned her in-laws with a poisoned beef wellington. The series was AACTA nominated for its score and a ratings smash for STAN, #2 across all television on Netflix (UK/IRE), and was a tentpole of the relaunch of CNN All Access in the US.

Working equally between the United States and Australia, Gil started his career as a producer, assistant director, and production manager across independent feature films, commercials and music videos. His debut as director came with documentary series The Gymkhana Files which launched globally on Amazon Prime in 2018 and was Emmy-nominated for directing, cinematography and sound design.

His acclaimed sophomore series, Making Their Mark, was the biggest sports docuseries in Australian history. Releasing in 2021, the series chronicled the coronavirus pandemic from the inside of the biggest sporting code in Australia.
