Ayeesha Ash is a Māori (Ngāi Tūhoe) Grenadian performer, writer and director and the Content Producer at Powerhouse.

With Powerhouse, Ayeesha produced the museum’s first podcasts: Culinary Archive PodcastOscillations, In Relation; the Blak Powerhouse film series, including Telly Award winning We Rise; and the Matariki photographic portrait series. She is currently producing a range of short documentary films and digital projects supporting Powerhouse Parramatta’s major opening exhibitions and sharing stories with and from local communities.

Ayeesha is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Acting) and the University of Technology Sydney (BA Communications, Social and Political Studies). She hosted FBi Radio’s podcast CANVAS: Unframing Art & Ideas and Culture Guide, as well as creating, hosting and producing Black Birds’ podcast No Offence, But…

She’s written for The Sydney Morning HeraldThe Audrey Journalbi50 MagMade In KinFBi Radio and The Sydney Opera House; Stan’s Year Of (Roadshow Rough Diamond); BuzzFeed Oz and Pedestrian.

As a performer, Ayeesha has written, directed and performed in works for Arts House; Griffin Theatre Company; The Old Fitz; Q Theatre; Sydney Fringe; Cement Fondu; Bondi Feast; Festival Fatale; Red Rattler; and Next Wave. Recent stage credits include Ladies Lounge (MONA, Kirsha Kaechele) and The Unshame Machines (Betty Grumble); 2:22 A Ghost Story (GWB Productions); and Honor (Ensemble Theatre).

Ayeesha is currently writing a creative non-fiction piece for Sweatshop x NewSouth publishing’s Fresh Off the Books, in pre-production for her documentary BASJIA, and developing a new performance work in collaboration with Gianna Hayes.
