Annie Goldson has produced, directed and edited over 15 award-winning feature and broadcast documentaries. She is a Professor at Waipapa Taumata Rau/University of Auckland, Aotearoa.

Annie Goldson is a leading documentary filmmaker whose work has won more than 60 international awards, screened theatrically, and been acquired by major broadcasters and streamers.

Her films include Punitive Damage, Georgie Girl, An Island Calling, Brother Number One, Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web, and Red Mole: A Romance. Many examine social justice and legal processes, a focus continued in Public Nuisance.

Annie holds a PhD from the Taumata Waipapa Rau/University of Auckland, where she teaches and supervises emerging filmmakers and scholars. She also publishes widely in academic journals, contributing to documentary and screen-practice scholarship.

Her achievements have been recognised through significant honours: she is an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit and a Fellow of Te Apārangi / Royal Society of New Zealand. In 2021, she received the Aronui Medal and in 2023 became an Arts Laureate and DocEdge Superhero Award recipient.

Occasional Productions

Occasional Productions is a boutique documentary film company based in Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa New Zealand. It is currently the vehicle through which we are developing Public Nuisance.
