Alex is co-founder and director of Documentary NZ Trust (Doc Edge).

Alex Lee is a Kiwi of Malaysian Chinese heritage and Co-Founder and Director of the Documentary New Zealand Trust, which delivers the Oscar®-qualifying Doc Edge International Film Festival, Doc Edge Forum, Pitch, and XR Exhibition. A former Chair of Film Auckland and past Head of Performing & Screen Arts at Unitec, he has strengthened New Zealand’s global screen presence and cultural exchange. As a filmmaker, he produced the acclaimed feature documentary Hip Hop-eration and is producing New Zealand Film Commission-supported documentaries and international co-productions worldwide.
