At the recent @sunnysidedoc 2025 (held in La Rochelle, France, from 23-26 June), two AIDC 2025 FACTory projects found themselves among the winners of Sunny Side’s pitch competitions.
In the New Voices category, the €3,000 top prize went to ‘Restless Farewell’, directed by Nan Yang and Peiyun He, and produced by China’s Shanghai Media Group. The documentary follows a group of third-generation migrant workers seeking to escape their parents’ fate as low-paid factory workers.
Restless Farewell was awarded the AIDC CCDF Award at Taiwan’s @cnex.tw CCDF-15 in September last year, which then saw the project submitted and successfully selected for the FACTory New Talent Showcase at AIDC 2025.
Sunny Side’s pitch competition winners also included ‘Heart’, which took the €3,000 prize in the Science category. Directed by Gloor Alaneo and produced by Matt Blyth of Australia’s @millstream.productions, `Heart` follows the quest to develop the world’s first-ever machine heart.
Heart was submitted for AIDC 2025’s FACTory International Pitching Showcase and selected for the Central Showcase.
Congratulations to the teams behind both projects!
