Leading Lights is a philanthropic funding program for emerging and diverse documentary practitioners.
We believe that a wide variety of voices and perspectives is vital for a healthy screen industry.
To help new talents enter the industry community, AIDC’s Leading Lights Fund has been designed to enable early career, Indigenous and CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) practitioners to attend AIDC for the first time.
The goal is to bring new voices to the table, enrich the documentary and factual community, and build the foundations for the future of the industry.
Since the Fund’s launch in 2018, program donors have helped 66 new practitioners join the industry community at AIDC.
As we move toward AIDC 2020, we hope to see even more donors get behind the program and help usher in a new generation of factual screen creators.
Please Note: the application period for Leading Lights funding is closed for 2019, and will reopen early 2020. However, donations to the Leading Lights fund can be made at any time.
Any early career filmmakers, Indigenous filmmakers, and filmmakers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are eligible to apply.
An Industry Committee will assess applications and award successful applicants with an AIDC Focus Pass, valued at $605 (inc GST).
A Focus Pass provides access to all AIDC Sessions, Panels, and Masterclasses, and observer access to The FACTory Pitching Forum, but excludes participation in the AIDC Marketplace. Read more about Focus Passes here.
Please Note: Applications for eligible filmmakers are currently closed for 2019. Subscribe to the AIDC eNews for Leading Lights Fund updates and 2020 application deadline announcements.
