Riding the Green Wave

Business An in-depth look at how the screen industry is putting the planet in the picture - and how it’s not as hard or as costly as you might think.

The Australian screen production industry contributes over $5.34 billion in value-add to the economy and generates over 31,000 full-time equivalent jobs. All this comes at a cost and the enormous amount of resources required to produce screen content comes with a large environmental footprint. Creating screen content does not need to be at the expense of the planet, but big change requires bold leadership.

The tide is rapidly turning and there is a groundswell of support from within the screen sector to lead the charge for climate action. Examining specific case studies, panellists Georgia Woodward (Southern Pictures), Anna Kaplan (Regen Studios), Sacha Gregson (ABC), and Mark Brogan (Netflix) will lift the lid on what they have been doing to make a positive environmental impact on screen, behind the camera, and in their business models. And the good news is, it’s not as hard or costly as you might think.
