Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: How to Successfully Collaborate with International Partners

Business As global broadcasters unite to create formats and combine funding, the ABC lead this session on the do's and don'ts of international co-productions.

In an era of shrinking budgets, it makes sense for broadcasters to unite by creating formats and combining funding. But finding that sweet spot to satisfy audiences in different territories can be a tricky tapestry.

And pulling together an international finance plan is a minefield. Just ask Marc Fennell and Nic Meloney (CBC) from Stuff The British Stole, they’ve been in the trenches on not one but two series. Joining them on stage is Nick Robinson whose passion for engaging audiences in nature has seen Wild Pacific Media get several blue-chip natural history projects greenlit Internationally including Australia’s Wild Odyssey and a brand-new series for the ABC. Completing the panel is Shaminder Nahal (Channel 4), who can tell us what she’s looking for in a co-pro.

By tapping into this wealth of experience, moderator Kalita Corrigan will unpack the do’s and don’ts of international co-pros, and who knows, maybe even inspire you to come up with the next big thing!
