Join Aloke Devichand, the head of documentaries at Mindhouse (the UK-based production company founded by Louis Theroux) and former commissioner for Netflix and Al Jazeera, as he shares his innovative approach to commissioning and producing distinctive global stories.
In 2023, Aloke Devichand, formerly of Netflix and Al Jazeera, was appointed Head of Documentaries at Mindhouse, founded in 2019 by renowned UK documentarian Louis Theroux to create intelligent, thought-provoking and innovative storytelling across film, TV and podcasts.
In this spotlight session, Devichand will share his process for developing ambitious features and series for globally renowned production companies and platforms by leaning into risk and championing distinctive storytelling as both a commissioner and producer.
Devichand’s impressive slate includes the 2026 Sundance-selected Hanging by a Wire, backed by Universal Pictures, and the hit Netflix series Can I Tell You A Secret? His other accolades include commissioning The Elephant Whisperers for Netflix, the first Indian-produced film to win an Oscar®, and Hope Frozen: A Quest to Live Twice, which won the International Emmy® for Best Documentary.
