Susan Nation is an award-winning producer, writer, director and community builder. She started her international career branding consumer internationally, then developing content and events for clients like The Economist Group, DG Medios, Wal-Mart and Disney. She honed her distribution and TV producing skills with Lenz Entertainment on projects like kids’ series Nanalan’ and Weird Years. She founded her company Hop To It Productions in 2006. She has actively supported innovation, strong female roles and diversity in front of and behind the camera. Susan’s first TV and digital project Hip Hop In the T-Dot showcased the talents of local Toronto artists and dancers. Susan then created and produced notable factual multi-platform projects like Pop It! and Suck It Up Princess. She has worked with local and international broadcasters including Nickelodeon, TVO, CBC, Corus, Sony, Disney, ECG, and Rogers plus sponsors, licensing agents, publishers and music labels.

Susan’s recent successes include award-winning Talent Hounds – a TV Series about dogs, 400+ videos (4+ million YouTube views), and various social, branded, digital and live initiatives reaching over 100,000 people a month.

She is currently producing several Shark, Animal Rescue and Dog Documentary projects in Canada and the Carribean including “Fatal Attraction- Women who Swim With Sharks”, “Baby Animal Rescue Adventures”, and “Hope Unleashed” and looking for platforms and partners.

Her many festival selections and award wins and nominations include over 30 in 2020/2021 for trailers, web festivals and short films, plus previous Houston Worldfest, Yorkton Film Festival, Banff competitions, Canadian Screen Awards, YMA awards, and a Telus Innovation Award.
