Sonya Suraci (CAN)
Producer
Stitch Media

Sonya is a producer and product manager who specialises in projects that live at the intersection of story, social impact, and technology.

She completed her MA in Documentary Film and Screen Studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and has been conducting research and working within the Canadian documentary, game, and digital media landscape ever since. At Stitch Media, she manages a wide range of digital products including websites, children’s educational games, interactive documentaries, and gamified e-learning programs. In 2019, she produced the interactive documentaries Migrant Mothers of Syria and My Life in Limbo.

Sonya has produced a wide variety of shareable documentary and video content for Canadian non-profit organisations including Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), ParticipAction, and the Special Olympics Foundation. She was Associate Producer for the interactive documentary The World in Ten Blocks, which premiered at Hot Docs 2016 and launched in partnership with The Globe and Mail that same year.

Previously, Sonya was a Programmer at the Canadian Film Centre Media Lab, working at the forefront of immersive media innovation and digital media entrepreneurship.  Outside of the office, she can be found forest bathing, laughing at her own jokes, and sucking at rock climbing.
