Joan has created more than 25 hours of prime time arts, biography, and social issue documentaries for Canadian and international broadcasters with credits include the international hit, "Beauty and the Beach", which sold in 12 countries on all four continents and "Buffy Sainte-Marie: A Multimedia Life", which was recognised with the highest Canadian documentary music award nomination.

CineFocus Canada was founded in 1991 to tell thought-provoking inspiring stories worldwide and to deliver them on accessible platforms. With sales to broadcasters around the world, CineFocus programs are seen on A&E, TLC, PBS, and Oxygen in the United States, on Discovery and many other networks in Europe and Asia, and in Canada on CBC, Global, Radio-Canada, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, Bravo!, and TVO.

Based in Toronto, the company’s founders have been involved in the development, production and distribution of more than 25 hours of prime-time arts, biography and social issue documentaries and television series that have been pre-licensed or sold to Canadian networks across the country and to international broadcasters in twelve countries on all four continents. Additionally, they have produced 75 + commissioned videos for government, health and non-profit organizations, many in both official languages.

Notable credits include the international documentary hit, Beauty and the Beach and the music biography, Buffy Sainte-Marie: A Multimedia Life. Along with their TV documentaries, they produced the biography series Lucky Breaks that aired on A&E’s Biography Channel and produced 28 profiles of Canadian musicians, directors and actors for Global’s Northern Lights series. The pilot for her latest TV series, Green Heroes. was a nominee at the Banff World Television Festival and was produced as a multi-platform production in association with TVO and the Bell Fund.
