Asia Youngman is an award-winning producer and director from Vancouver, Canada.

Her films have premiered at a variety of festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Vancouver International Film Festival, and the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. Asia’s first film Lelum’ won the award for Best Documentary Short at the 2017 imagineNATIVE Film Festival and her latest film This Ink Runs Deep won Best Documentary Short at the 2019 Calgary International Film Festival. She has worked on numerous projects commissioned by CBC, Creative BC, TELUS, Human Rights Watch, History Channel, and Corus Entertainment. Asia is currently in pre-production for her short drama/comedy Hatha which received support from Bell Media’s Harold Greenberg Fund and is also in early development for her first feature-length documentary Game 7. She is executive producing both projects through her company Visceral Village Productions which she founded in 2019. Asia is an alumna from the Canadian Academy Directors Program for Women and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Victoria.

Specializing in both narrative and non-fiction, the company focuses on creating original content for the Canadian and international marketplace. Visceral Village Productions is dedicated to supporting Indigenous and underrepresented voices and help bring their stories to the screen through collaboration with international and domestic partners.
