Alexandra Roberts (Australia)

Alexandra Roberts is an applied sport scientist and coach developer with over 10 years’ experience in high-performance and community sport in Australia and the USA.

Currently lecturing at La Trobe University, Alex’s research focuses on skill acquisition, talent identification, decision-making and coaching science. Alex recently completed her PhD in skill acquisition (motor learning and control), investigating the role that coaches play in talent identification with a specific focus on Australian combat sports. This research was completed in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Sport, during which time Alex provided skill acquisition support to coaches and athletes across a wide variety of sports including boxing, judo, taekwondo, athletics, triathlon, artistic swimming and rowing. Alex has worked with US collegiate Division 1 teams, Australian national, state and regional level teams, and has a passion for improving community-level coaching. Alex is currently the Performance Coach at La Trobe University Hockey Club and is a member of the Women’s Coaching Association.
