La Trobe University and the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) invite you to apply for the Reel Smart Academic Roundtables Initiative. Ten projects will be selected to take part in a pitch training workshop, mentoring program and roundtable pitch, with five being chosen to take their big ideas to roundtables at AIDC in 2021.
EOIs close at 23:59 (AEDT) Sunday 13 December 2020.
Key information and dates:
Monday 18 January – Pitch & Industry Training Workshop:
This will take place online and will include a seminar from a top film and television industry professionals to provide key insights into pitching to the film and television industry.
Wednesday 20 February – Friday 22 January 2021 – Mentoring session:
Each project will be paired with an experienced producer for a one-hour mentoring session to hone their storytelling skills and finesse their roundtable pitching skills.
Monday 1 February 2021 – Roundtable Pitch
This will take place with all ten researchers presenting their research as a pitch in an online roundtable discussion forum to AIDC and La Trobe professionals.
Sunday 28 February 2021 – AIDC’s Reel Smart Academic Roundtables
The five best roundtable pitches will be selected to present their findings in an online roundtable discussion to local and international factual producers at AIDC. If successful, producers will work with the University and selected academic(s) to negotiate remuneration and accreditation for their research work.
