Indigenous Creators Program: Capturing Country - Respectfully Giving Voice to Lands

Indigenous Environmental and Nature documentaries and series are a huge business so how can First Nations filmmakers capitalise on making films about our country and give voice to the land respectfully?

Environmental and Nature documentaries and series are a huge business and there is a large demand coming from the various SVODs and local broadcasters for this kind of content. How can First Nations filmmakers better capitalise on making films about our country? How do you take a local story to a national audience? And most importantly how do you give voice to the land respectfully? From the ABC series, Back to Nature, to the NITV series The Beach, and Larrapinta, we will hear from award winning filmmakers, Kimba Benjamin, Dylan River and Samual Paynter who will discuss their creative approaches to filming on country, while also sharing tips and ticks to ensuring the right cultural protocols are followed.
