Al Hicks Masterclass: A Journey Through Music and Film

Masterclass Grammy Award-winning Australian filmmaker Al Hicks delivers insights into his creative process in an inspiring masterclass focusing on craft.

A self-taught filmmaker with no formal training, Al Hicks has directed two award-winning feature documentaries including Quincy, a look at the prolific music producer Quincy Jones, and Keep On Keepin’ On, which explores the relationship between jazz legend Clark Terry and blind piano prodigy, Justin Kauflin. Hick’s most recent film, Liv, follows the story of two sisters as they confront the raw emotions and fears of young life on the edge. 

In this inspiring craft masterclass, Al will share insights into his unique creative processes including filming style, storytelling techniques, how he shapes the edit, plus the role of music in bringing his films to life.
