Paddy Manning is an investigative reporter for ABC News, based in Hobart.

He is author of six books including the best-selling unauthorised biography The Successor: the High-stakes life of Lachlan Murdoch (Black, 2022), and is completing a PhD at Macquarie University on the history of News Ltd in Australia.

He was co-author and host of the successful six-part podcast Rupert: The Last Mogul (7am and Schwartz Media, 2023) and consulting producer-reporter for Australian Story’s three-part series Making Lachlan Murdoch (ABC, 2024).

Over three decades in journalism he has worked for the ABC, The Monthly, Crikey, The SMH/Age, AFR, The Australian and was founding publishing editor of Ethical Investor magazine.
