Clayton is an award winning filmmaker whose experience spans across commercials, documentaries, online content, music videos, feature film and AI creation. 

Clayton was CEO/Founder of Australia’s first end to end virtual production facility located in Melbourne’s north. Dreamscreen Australia has worked on many international and local high profile productions utilising state of the art virtual production techniques. The Fires, The Clearing, Love Me, Scrublands, White Fever, High Country and La Brea seasons 1 & 2 are just some of the productions Dreamscreen has serviced.

Clayton graduated from the prestigious Swinburne Film and TV school with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in 1984. His debut comedy feature Kenny was a highly acclaimed box office hit won IF Awards – Best Feature Film, Best Script, and the Film Critics Circleof Australia Award for Best Original Screenplay. It also holds a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. George Miller recently announced Kenny was one of his four favourite Australian feature films. 

Clayton’s follow up Feature Black Comedy Brothers’ Nest won international acclaim.

Clayton helmed two episodes of the critically acclaimed Comedy/ Drama series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, ABC’s comedy showroom episode Moonman starring Lawrence Mooney and most recently the 2nd Block of Mr Black a comedy series starring Stephen Curry for the Channel Ten network. 

While best known as a director, Clayton has also acted in many features, including the beloved Aussie crime film Animal Kingdom and Jane Campion’s internationally acclaimed TV series Top Of The Lake – China Girl and Blumhouse’s sci-fi cult film Upgrade to name a few. 

Those who have worked with Clayton know his deep love of film, style and technique filter into every detail of his inspired body of work.

In the past year Clayton has turned his attention to AI film making citing it as a filmmakers’ panacea for freedom of expression but not without its warning labels.
