Position: CEO / CONFERENCE DIRECTOR

Term: Full-Time position (up to three years, subject to funding and performance reviews)

Reports to: AIDC Board

Salary: $110k per annum plus superannuation at 9.5%

Position Summary

The CEO / Conference Director reports to the Board and has the dual responsibility of managing the business of the organisation and delivering an annual conference program. This is a full-time position, based in Melbourne and some national and international travel may be required.

Organisational Context

Established in 1987, the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) is Australia’s premier event for documentary, factual and unscripted screen content.

With a remit to deliver a three-day industry market, conference and networking event, the purpose of the annual AIDC event is to promote networking, facilitate business andprovide industry relevant professional development opportunities for the documentary, factual and unscripted screen sector.

Governed by a Board of Directors, the AIDC Ltd is a not-for-profit entity with an annual turnover of approximately $1 million. The conference occurs annually in February/March each year and will be held in Melbourne in 2018-2020. 

All staff report to and take direction from the CEO / Conference Director. The number and working hours of staff will vary throughout the year, with a core team including the CEO / Conference Director, Administration Manager, Communications & Marketing Manager, and a Partnerships & Business Development Manager. The conference team, led by the Conference Programmer and Event Manager and various support staff, join the core team on fixed term contracts at varying stages throughout the year. 

While the CEO / Conference Director has ultimate responsibility for organisational administration and development of the conference program, it is essential that they work strategically and collaboratively with the event team, board and key stakeholders to develop and deliver the annual conference and associated events.
