About AIDC - Introduction
Internationally renowned, AIDC attracts delegates and speakers from around Australia and overseas.
The conference offers the full range of participants in the factual film and broadcasting industry the opportunity to meet, network and be exposed to industry best practice from Australia and overseas. In addition, masterclasses and forums raise and explore current challenges and showcase work.
AIDC continues to grow hand in hand with the Australian documentary industry. Celebrating 20 years in 2007, the conference ‘came of age’ in Adelaide with a focus on what inspires us all as factual film makers.
In 2008 AIDC continues to spread its wings and explore new territory, heading to Western Australia to delve into the art of ‘storytelling’- the fundamental element of documentary making. As well the conference promises to deliver strong MarketPlace opportunities through key events such as:
Australian DOCUmart a one-day pitching/co-financing session where delegates pitch their ideas to a panel of potential broadcasters and investors.
MeetMarket Selected delegate projects are made available to every buyer attending the Conference. Buyers then ask to meet with the producers they're interested in. During the Conference scheduled one-on-one meetings will be organised on buyer’s request.
Pitch & Punt If selected, delegates get to pitch their idea to buyers who, after a healthy public Q&A session, may take a punt and help develop the idea.
A broad spectrum of industry delegates attend each year from film makers, commissioning editors, industry suppliers, funding bodies, broadcasters and distributors, co-financiers, journalists, educational institutions and students.
